COMMERCIAL GENERAL LIABILITY
Commercial General Liability provides coverage for individuals or corporations (sole proprietors, partnerships, organizations) where the business is found liable for causing bodily injury or property damage to a third party. These damages can be arise from the insured’s premises, its products, or the completed operations or actions of its employees. Personal Injury protection is also generally afforded under this coverage, for losses arising from allegations of libel and slander. Parties that enter into contracts with the business, such as commercial landlords, will often require evidence of this coverage.
COMMERCIAL PROPERTY COVERAG
Commercial Property insurance covers risk of physical loss to a building or property owned by the business. This coverage generally includes the property belonging to others that is in the insured’s care, custody, or control. Coverage is provided as a result of certain named perils such as fire, theft, vandalism, and wind. Some perils may be specifically excluded, such as earthquake or flood, and coverage must be bought separately when available.
COMMERCIAL AUTOMOBILE COVERAGE
A policy that covers automobiles owned by the business. In addition, coverage should be extended to non-owned automobiles to cover liability and property damage for personal vehicles of employees that are driven during the course of employment, and for rented vehicles.
COMMERCIAL UMBRELLA COVERAGE
Coverage for third party liability losses that may exceed the policy limits of an underlying policy or policies, such as commercial general liability and commercial auto insurance. Defense costs may be provided within the umbrella policy limit, or outside the policy limit, depending on the insurer.
EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES LIABILITY COVERAGE
Liability insurance for employers that includes coverage for wrongful termination, discrimination, violation employees’ rights, or sexual harassment toward the insured’s employees or former employees. An important part of this coverage is the provision of legal defense costs.
PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY COVERAGE (ERRORS & OMISSIONS, OR E&O)
Covers the business and its employees for allegations of professional negligence, or errors and omissions, that results in injury to its clients.
DIRECTORS OFFICERS COVERAGE:(D&O)
Director’s and Officer’s insurance provides an organization’s directors and senior executives coverage for costs and judgments resulting from lallegations of wrongful acts. These could include poor management decisions, alleged wrongful termination, and breach of contract. Criminal offenses are not covered under this insurance. D&O insurance is usually purchased by the org÷anization for the benefit of its directors and officers. There is also generally some coverage provided for the organization.
WORKERS COMPENSATION
Insurance that pays for medical care and physical rehabilitation of workers injured in the course of their employment, and helps to replace lost wages while they are unable to work. Benefits are paid regardless so who was at fault. State workers compensation laws, which vary significantly, govern the amount of benefits paid and other compensation provisions.
CRIME COVERAGE
This covers financial losses sustained by a business as a result of employee dishonesty.
FIDUCIARY LIABILITY
Pension, health insurance and welfare plan liability. Covers plans for actual or alleged wrongful acts, including violation of any responsibility, obligation or duty under ERISA or similar common or statutory law of the U.S., Canada, or any other jurisdiction anywhere in the world. Also provides coverage for administrative errors and omissions claims.
