This is exactly what we have been worried about. Many banks and financial institutions have a policy in place to confirm all wire requests with a phone call. What happens when AI can mimic a voice? A little noticed article from the Washington Post confirmed that voice-mimicking software is already available (sooner than we expected) and has already been used to commit a crime. We suggest amending policies to include additional security questions and codes that only the user and recipient would use. Tell me about your daughter’s soccer game, continue our conversation about your parents. Who did we meet with the last time we were at a certain place? Cyber criminals are less than a step behind.
