It’s tough to argue with the living creator of a work falsely attributed to a dead artist. That’s exactly what happened at a recent exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City when Nguyen Thanh Chong recognized his painting attributed to Ta Ty,  one of Vietnam’s best known artists. The work had been authenticated for the exhibition by a senior consultant for Christie’s. As reported by the New York Times, the number of forgeries in the Vietnamese Art Market is a warning to art buyers.
