Warming temperatures of about two degrees may not seem like much.  The National Climate Assessment as reported by the New York Times, finds the warmer temperatures are already responsible for an increase in torrential rains, especially on the East Coast. It is a reminder to homeowners to be particularly vigiliant in fortifying their homes against water intrusion because extreme rains will be common in many areas of the country. Insurance rates will likely rise as weather-related claims increase.
